As 2021 kicks off, we are also kicking off with great plans and aspirations for the new year. There is no doubt that the year 2020 with the accompanying pandemic will influence most institutional decisions going forward. As vaccines are rolled out and people are getting immunized against the COVID-19 virus, so are many institutions making plans to inoculate themselves from the adverse economic effects of being unprepared for the 4th industrial revolution that have been accelerated by the 2020 pandemic.
Below Are Our Primary Focus Areas Going Forward
In this new year we are going to be doubling down on the integration of relevant technologies in our classrooms, business model and ecosystem as a whole.
With this in mind we will be launching a dedicated Software Development Department that will enable us roll out Education Technology (EdTech) applications. Already, we have launched a Basis Science K-2 application for Android devices (iOS iteration still under development) on the Google Play Store and have a small but growing number of paid monthly subscribers and hundreds of active users in many countries around the world with majority of our users coming from Nigeria, the United States, India, Ghana, Egypt, Ethiopia, the UK and Indonesia among other countries. We plan to expand on this and keep optimizing and releasing new updates of this application for the first 6-8 months of 2021 after which we will begin working on basic science applications for other classes (Primary 3-4, Grade 5-6 etc).
We are also looking to introduce a very basic (eg. Changing the colour of an MUI button) but practical introduction to certain programming frameworks to our pre-graduating and graduating classes (Primary 5 and 6). For now we are considering one of 3 frameworks being: Flutter.dart, React.js or PhoneGap. This is to ensure that out Students are nudged towards the tech field in their career choices in the future.
We hope you join us as we embark on what we believe will be an intriguing 2021 adventure!
